▲  "It seems like my whole life I´ve been asked 'what I do,' as if presenting myself with a title could truly define me, define whether I am a person worthy of respect, worth listening to, in control, etc. It´s always been something that has deeply bothered me... Now I realize that what made me feel so uncomfortable about this "what do you do" question, was not the fact that I felt less worthy because I didn´t have a masters in what-ever-the-hell-bla-bla-bla, but because according to what we are raised to consider "normal," I was supposed to to feel less worthy or incomplete because, in not choosing something with a specific title, there was no way I could be considered someone successful. I was just a random soul, wandering aimlessly through life, without ambitions or goals." - Claudia Almandoz's "Search My Sweet Soul," for The Mama Earth Project

▲  Three years ago (tomorrow) I embarked upon a solo roadtrip from NY to CO without much more than a place to crash + a seasonal ski pass. Who needs more than that?! It was phenomenal, and I wish I could have been back at ABay for opening day this season.

▲  Cabin porn much? My thoughts on a life of simplicity couldn't mirror Sondra's more closely.

▲  Success comes from The Willingness to Think Differently.

▲  I love this house tour of Lizzie and Kathryn Fortunato's apartment. Lots of exposed brick, geometric textiles, and hard wood floors - yum!

▲  "We’ve been conditioned to believe that life happens in stages, that there are milestones to be reached, that you go from infant to child, from adolescent to adult. And now that we’re up at bat, now that we’re of “adult age,” we keep striking out. The truth though, is that you’re not just some adolescent, or some adult, or some merging of the two. You’re you. You’re just you. You always will be. And so the decisions that you make are the only things that define you. Not your age, not your savings account, not your thread count. You are in control of your own life." - Stephanie Georgopulos muses on the reality of growing up in, "You're Not A Child, You're Not An Adult, You're Just You."

▲  Vintageprintable.com is way too much fun to browse around. Seriously, I've lost hours of my life... The site's a little wonky, but the imagery is so sweet (and completely up for grabs!)

▲  Sandy's damage was wild, and we're not out of the woods yet here in parts of NY. If you've seen pictures from the vast fire damage in Breezy Point alone, you realize it's going to take a long time for the community to recover. If you have the means, please think about making a contribution to the relief effort.

I hope everyone's having a great Thanksgiving week so far! I can't believe we're into the end of November already. Time's been flying, and there's so much to do before the holidays. But this is my favorite time of year, no complaints here :)

I hope everyone's having a great week so far. I've spent a lot of time regenerating from last week's party shock to my system. And redesigning my layout - I'm kinda super in love with it now. Design means hours on the computer. This leads to an assortment of links accumulating until I decide to do something with them. Well, here I take action:

  • While containing both a quote from Kerouac, and concerning thoughts of moments on the road - I took particular note of the games we play when my dear friend Chris claimed to play the first "semi-conscious fleeting game" mentioned immediately in the video, when he was a kid.
  • Sara turned me onto these perfectsexyromantic engagement photos that I'm completely obsessed with.
  • I oohed and ahhed over this beautiful sacred space created by another Sara.  So simple, so cozy.
  • Kat's post on living alone really hit home for me. While I live with my boyfriend, being home during the days all alone for the past 9 months has lead to many a weird sleep/eat/hygiene cycle.
  • I have yet to post about my own adventures in solo-road-tripping, but for the gist of why I think they're the best kind of trip ever, read Jen's 10 Reasons to Take a Solo Road Trip.
  • I'm 6 years shy of 33, but I can't help but love each of these 33 lessons learned.
  • Feeling inspired by Kelly Ann's realness, truth, & positivity.
  • I haven't tried this yet - but I'm excited to learn how to make a 4-string braid.

I'm overwhelmed with all the things that need to get done this week! I absolutely hate coming home from a trip to a messy house (always one of my mom's biggest gripes, and of course at 27, I'm starting to turn into her). So in addition to the etsy updating and sidebar redesigning I'd like to do - all the laundry, all the dishes, and well, just about every room needs a good decluttering.

In an effort to get my ass off the computer for a couple hours, I leave you with some links for awesome stuff and the promise of (a quite near and dear to my heart) tunesday music post when I'm done with the kitchen portion of my pre-vacation overhaul.

Here're the goods:
  • I love vintage camper renovations so freekin' much [1, 2] . I plan to be in the midst of my own reno of a seventies model 20' Argosy by the time that I turn 30. The clock is ticking.
  • Mandi's blogging wisdom is spectacular (and don't even get me started on her beautiful layout). More often than not, I need to "stop planning and start doing," myself - I'm an all star procrastinator.
  • I'm a sucker for relaxing nature sounds. Add the option for meditation guidance? I'm sold.
  • Sometimes we just need an empowering inspirational reminder about what it means to be truly sexy.
  • Did you know that many countries have national vacation laws - granting their citizens paid time away from their jobs every year  - when here in the US we have none? Paid annual leave policies aren't something that had ever crossed my mind before.
  • Honestly, I haven't paid much attention to the whole Chik-Fil-A debacle. Mostly because when homegrown injusticey things happen I lose more faith in the intelligence of America, and that makes me sad. With that said, I wholeheartedly support the LGBT community.
  • Lastly, I am both fascinated and dumbfounded by the photo history of platonic male affection.

Ok, break!

Good morning! I'm aiming to get this out and immediately eat some breakfast as I've been failing to fuel myself until the very late afternoon lately. It's moronic, but without a regimented work schedule, I have a hard time remembering to get up off the chair and nom. Speaking of work, getting a job is on my 28 before 28 list (I'm still working on the list, 13 to go! Will. post. soon).

Somehow this week has managed to fly by, and I'm excited about my best friend Kim coming up on Sunday for the Stormville Flea Market with her boyfriend. I can't afford to buy much, but the place is enormous and so much fun to walk around. It should be a pretty, albeit hot as balls day - but I'm stoked none-the-less.

Anyways, here's a completely non-themed collection of links that have been occupying my tabs all week:

  • *The original picture of cutie fox up there came from this amazing collection of animals face to face.
  • Just because Marilyn Monroe died famous doesn't mean everything she ever said held any of the answers on life or love, assholes.
  • I always need organizational helpful posts, and this one from Amanda stuck with me this week.
  • Rodeo's Tattoologist is my favorite link for tattoo pictures, the images are generally dainty/feminine. For some reason I haven't figured out how to subscribe to their rss, but I check out what's new about bi-weekly.
  • Did you know smudging with sage keeps mosquitoes away?! Now you do :)
  • 10 Ways to Spur Your Creativity - I'm a sucker for this genre of blog post.
  • I've retired from FoodNetwork and Epicurious to Punchfork. It's the only site I check when I'm looking for recipes and should probably be yours, too.
