Custom Vintage Inspired Party Invitations

Aren't these birthday invitations the cutest? Yes, I'm completely biased 'cause I designed them -- anddd the little boy is my uncle, many moons ago. But I really love how they turned out. Can you believe the pictures were taken in the late 40's!? I had the best time pulling them together for my aunt.

I used MOO postcards for the printing. I loved the quality, full bleed, heavy stock, glossiness (but worth noting: only one side of the postcards have a shiny coating). They also sell brown paper envelopes, which went with the invitations perfectly. They're good. Recommended.

I'm not exactly sure where this past week went -- The surprise party was last Saturday, which is where I started what would equal 17 hours of standing. On my feet. Seriously, like, worse than a waitressing double shift, because after the party was a night of bartending. But no real complaints :) The party and the bar crowd were wonderful -- and I managed to get a few hours sleep before my best friend came over with her fiance for their save the date/holiday card photos early the next morning. After that was a baby shower -- I showed up to nearly empty handed (save one Lithuanian baltic amber teething necklace). I was absolutely mortified. Long story short -- never ever forget you can't shop in New Jersey on Sundays. I'm a silly New Yorker and I forget such things.

So I used the rest of the week to recover from all that, celebrate Mom's birthday, Christmas shop, and a whole buncha other stuff. The holidays are upon us, and my buddy Sean's here for his birthday weekend. It's time for me to get back to the boys -- I hope you're having a great weekend so far and stockpiling energy for the next 10 days of holiday crazy.

XO: Peace, love, and prayers to Newtown.

Lonergan's Antiques & Militaria... and 'dermy

Driving home from Cook Mountian, we stopped at this crazy antique store (some old guy's hoard). Before we even went in, I was sold on the red barn, antlers, and bottle displays. Inside Lonergan's was like nothing I'd ever seen. I could have spent a week discovering all it's rusty, furry & historic treasures.

But, as mentioned, I'd just hiked a tall mountain and wanted to get home to the cabin. These images are from the 15 or so minutes we spent in vintage overload, walking on creaking floorboards under the watchful eyes of mounted animals, native american art, and army uniforms. This place is definitely worth a return trip up 9N.

I'm obsessed with the purse. SO should have bought it.

eep! how cute is this guy?! according to the tag, it's a rare arboreal fisher. i'd like one as a pet.

I can't wait to make it back and check out everything they've got a little more in depth. Guess I'll have to wait until next year's trip!

I've been dragging ass for days, as I'm just now recovering from my Saturday to Saturday up-way-too-late, consuming-600%-more-alcohol-than-normal week. There was a bar trifecta night out in my college town, a night at the Waldorf & hookah cafe, long lost friends in town, and one of the best wedding I've been to. Oh yea, then I bartended Saturday night. It was definitely fun, don't get me wrong - but completely exhausting. I'm clearly not in college anymore.

How's your summer winding down? Anything big going down before Labor Day?!

Natalie's Newborn Session

On June 25th, my friend Jeanine had a baby girl and named her Natalie. Eight days later, with vintage suitcases, lace, and that cute little name banner in tow - I made my way out to Jeanine's to snap some pictures of her tiny little princess.

Taking newborn photos was on my 28 list, and Natalie was born the day after my birthday - talk about serendipity! Unfortunately, I dropped my camera and broke my 50mm f/1.8 (perfect for portraits) just a week before this shoot. It completely blows living without it, but I still think these came out pretty cute. I can't wait to see the birth announcements!

Have you crossed anything off of your to-do/bucket/birthday list lately?

So Thankful!

This weekend was absolutely spectacular - and exhausting. I have to work on cleaning up the apartment (when I said I'd do it the other day, I ended up just hanging a bunch of art instead), and before a big post about the Kingston, Woodstock & Saugerties adventure - I'll bide time with this little peek into my birthday haul :)

Not sure yet! Still waiting for E to get home from work so I can open them! Eep!

These gifts are only the icing on othe proverbial carrot cake that was a fantastic weekend. I can't wait to share all the fun we had with you! What'd you do this past weekend?

My Friend's Place: Jessie O

Wow. I can't even tell you how glad I am to be done with these pictures. I know that probably sounds horrible, but I took them 6 weeks ago and then got stuck trying to figure out which ones I wanted, how I wanted to edit them, ev.ery.thing. They've basically held up all photo editing since. So yes, I'm very glad to be done with them. I posted the first of this series back in April, and even shared my traffic photography from the drive to and from Jessie's place ages ago, too. I'm a scatterbrain.

BUT! That doesn't make me love this apartment any less.

Jessie lives in the apartment that belonged to her grandparents and has been in her family for years. I wasn't expecting such a sweet antiquity when I drove over. Jess needed a little help seeing after her lasik eye surgery, and this was my first time at her place. Thank god I brought my camera! Check out this vintage haven:

When I'd asked Jessie if she minded me taking some pictures of the apartment, she said she'd be honored. When I showed her the pictures in camera before I left, she got tears in her eyes. That made my day :)
