Two Brides Are Better Than One

That's Michelle on the left and Caitlin on the right. Michelle is my sorority sister (my big big, for those familiar), and Cait is her fantastic fiance. They are one of the most well matched, happy couples I know - and so much fun to be around. We took these last fall after Mich's surprise-Cait-with-a-trip-to-Sedona-and-an-engagement-ring getaway (too good). Their wedding is in 40 days, and I can't freekin' wait. If yesterday's classy & intimate bridal shower was any indicator of the nuptials to come, their wedding will go down in the books.

In honor of my excitement - check out these happy ladies:

Nothing could have been more fitting than catching a glimpse of the amazeballs billboard (below) from Manhattan Mini Storage, "If you don't like gay marriage, don't get gay married." It's just that simple. I support gay rights - & equality for anyone marginalized by backwards minds, really. So while any declaration of commitment between these two would stand in my books, I'm glad New York agrees. Countdown on girls!

ELLE GEE PHOTOGRAPHY was just old branding! I just haven't had a chance to swap out the watermarks. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Breezy Point + One Of My Best Dudes

In about an hour I'm heading out on another possibly traffic filled quest to Queens. This time I'm heading back out to Breezy with my ex-boyfriend, Chris. We've been great friends for the last 6 years (only dated for 6 months, 4 years ago), and I'd visited just over a month ago on one of those spectacular mid-April-feels-like-July-days we were having. If for no other reason (though there are many), keeping him around has a beach benefit I'm not sure I'd give up without a fight.
Chris and I at a party in Pete's backyard, July 2010. Pictures from this night are some of my most prized.

Anywho, Breezy Point is this this crazy little penninsula between Jamaica Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It's still the city though, and from the bay side you can see the Empire State Building. Because it's a private community, it's always quiet. It feels like you're on your own beach. I just love it.

Chris got these while I pulled myself up into my smocked maxi dress in an attempt to light.. a cigarette?

I even took the few seconds to capture a little bit of the ocean for a cute little time lapse, behind which Eddie Vedder hums Guaranteed from the Into the Wild Soundtrack, naturally.

Yikes, I'm getting off to a late start because of this post! Time to B my T's (brush my teeth, for those who don't abreviate everything down to the first letter like Ej and I) and get changed! Hopefully the sun warms the day a little, I'm not looking forward to a cold breeze!

Brooklyn Traffic Photography

To be completely honest,
I don't really care for New York City.
I'm jaded. I'm from here.

Ok, so I'm not from NYC proper. I've lived within a thirty minute commute of midtown my entire life. The ways in which the city has enriched my life are limited. Sure, it's wonderful for catching a Broadway show or a concert - but beyond that all I see is concrete, crowds, traffic, and dollar signs.
Blasphemous, I know.

I drove to Brooklyn yesterday to hang with my girlfriend Jessie while recovers from lasik eye surgery. On the way (30 miles takes 75 minutes!) I attempted to make traffic worthwhile. At every slow down or stop I looked off of the road and tried to make pretty of it, while managing to keep the actual traffic out of most shots.

Here's some of what I gathered heading to & from Sheepshead Bay (99% on the BQE):

I get that I'm considered a freak for my complete disregard for "The Greatest City in the World." Such is life.
Give me the mountains, give me the forest, hell, I'd even take the prarie (a 'la Ree) before I'd live in the city.

Am I the only one distasteful of something most people put on a pedestal?
What could you care less about?
