A Season of Longing

This time of year has always been fairly moody for me. It intensifies an abstract longing for somewhere else. My sehnsucht makes itself apparent as the leaves begin to fall. Always. In an educated world, life changes come autumn - it's a new year, a new class, a new roommate, a new lease.. It's become my natural rhythm. In '04 I changed colleges, '08 brought a quarter-life-crisis NoCal trip with mom, in '09 I quit life and drove myself to Colorado for ski season, and the year after that - I stressed to death about how to tell my best friend I thought we should be together.

It's a running joke that my life only has two seasons - the one where I busy-bee work my butt (Springtober) to prepare for the one where I lust for the mountains, comfort food and a simple, ski-bum, snowy existence (Novinter).
